Nickelodeon commissioned the programming of a WordPress media library for their entire video content.
The Task
Nickelodeon wanted to create a media library featuring their complete video streaming content to make finding relevant content easier for their users. The media libraries of other big streaming services like Netflix and Prime served as an example. Nickelodeon wanted to divide their content into various categories and enable users to watch the videos directly on the site. To achieve that, we needed a flexible content management system such as WordPress-CMS.
Nickelodeon commissioned Thomas Lehmann from Fingerzeig to design the website.
The Implementation
Through Nickelodeon’s REST-API and with a cron job, metadata of the particular videos was matched and subsequently compiled into an object of a custom post type. The content editors could then sort the videos according to diverse categories and if needed add text and images. Through customized modules of the WPBakery Page Builder plugin, the content on the website could be sorted and exchanged. The template of the one pager was created using PHP, HTML, and SCSS. Additional functions were added in Javascript and jQuery. In this way, the player was dynamically integrated within the website and the autocomplete feature was added to the search bar.
